Browns vs. Raiders – Week 13

2012_12_browns_raidersFresh off their win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cleveland Browns head west to take on the Oakland Raiders.

The Browns are still looking for not only their first road win since Week 2 of last season, but their first winning streak since Weeks 2 and 3 of last year.

The game against Oakland is the first of a three-game stretch that includes Kansas City (currently 1-10) and Washington (5-6) against teams that are nearer the Browns in ability. If the Browns can take care of business, suddenly things look better than they did when the team started the season 0-5.

Lose during this stretch and … well, let’s not think about that right now.

Kent State’s BCS dreams end in double OT loss

2012_12_kent_hazellThe dream died hard for Kent State on Friday night at Ford Field in Detroit.

When Northern Illinois defensive back Demetrius Stone intercepted Spencer Keith’s fourth-down pass in the end zone in double overtime of the MAC Championship game, it was finally over.

No conference title. No BCS bowl game. No national spotlight on a program that had wandered the college football desert for 40 years.

Only the disappointment of seeing your dream end, so very, very close, but just far enough away to exceed your reach.

We have all the MACtion details at The Cleveland Fan.
